UMCOR US Disaster Response and Recovery
In response to the extreme winds and flooding caused by Hurricane Ida, a Category 4 storm that made landfall on the U.S. gulf coast on August 29, UMCOR remains in prayer for the many states and communities that were in its path.
UMCOR is in coordination with conference disaster response coordinators to assess the scale of damage and has awarded grants to the Louisiana and Mississippi conferences to support initial emergency relief efforts.
As the situation evolves, early response teams will be invited to help with needs such as debris removal and the tarping of roofs.
Join the effort by writing a check to the church designated for UMCOR Domestic Giving 901670, or give securely at umcor.org. Thank you for your generous gifts.

This week's prayer concerns:
- Pastor Kelly asks for prayers for her cousin Tom. He fell off a two-story roof a few weeks ago and has had surgery on both of his legs. He has returned to his South Glens Falls home; the family is also thankful he was able to locate a hospital bed he could use for a few months.
- Ruth Persons thanks you for your prayers. Joy passed away Friday morning (9/3).
- Pat Jones would like prayers of comfort and healing for her sister Doris Diamond who has health issues.
- Prayers for Katherine who recently lost her husband Kevin Moran. They were married for 35 years. (Betty and John MacMillan are her parents and Paul MacMillan is her uncle.)
- Please continue prayers for Olivia. She has been missing since August 22nd.
- Sue and Mike Cramer thank God, and all of you who prayed for their granddaughter Megan. Her surgery was last Thursday, and it went well. Please keep praying, it will take some time for her to heal.
- Sue and Mike Cramer ask for prayers of healing for their son who had surgery Wednesday.
- Pat Jones asks for prayers of comfort for Jim, a local man of ninety-three, who is in ill health.
- Carrie Adserias requests prayers for Kyle's Grandma Carleen who has been battling with spreading cancer and treatments for a while now and is currently suffering with complications. Lord, hear our prayers.
- Ilah Sisson Walser asks for prayers for a family friend who is going through another bout with cancer with specialized treatments. Please add her to your prayers. Thank you.
- Please put Bill on our prayer list. He is an Elks member who monthly delivers many bags of groceries to our Food Pantry. He has cancer and will be going to Albany Med. for advice on treating it.
- Please continue to keep Bill Haege, Marilynn Peterson, and Bob Elbertson in your prayers.
Please reach out to people who are alone during this time. A card or phone call will let them know they are not alone or forgotten.
